Operation-Appreciation
Operation Appreciation Program helps Life Touch care for Veterans

It surprises many Americans to learn that 25 percent of all deaths in the US are Veterans. That’s 1,800 people a day; more than 680,000 Veterans every year. These heroic Americans deserve recognition for their military service– particularly at the end of life’s journey. Life Touch has launched Operation Appreciation, a pioneering program to help improve the care Veterans receive.

Operation Appreciation
The program includes focus on respectful inquiry, compassionate listening, and grateful acknowledgment, coupled with Veteran-centric education for the Life Touch staff. “We have always served Veterans but often we have not been aware of that person’s service in the armed forces,” said Macy Braswell, Executive Director. “Through Operation Appreciation we are taking a step forward in understanding and serving Veterans and working more effectively with the VA medical facilities in the communities Life Touch serves.”

Operation Appreciation is enrolled in We Honor Veterans campaign, which is a program of National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization and Veterans Administration. It is designed to empower healthcare professionals to meet the unique needs of Veterans. NHPCO provides tiered recognition to organizations that demonstrate a systematic commitment to improving care for Veterans. Life Touch is proud to have achieved Partner Level Three status by conducting veteran specific presentations for staff and volunteers, integrating a military history checklist and formalizing our partnership with our local VA Medical Center.
